Hard to put into words the views from this mountain monastery and basilica. Our guide, Irina, spoke several languages, which was particularly helpful when we had English, Spanish, and Russian speakers on our tour. They picked us up at 12 noon and we returned about 9PM. There was plenty of free time to shop or hike up the mountain like we did. One warning, if you get motion sick or are afraid of heights, this tour might not be the one for you. The bus ride up the mountain was a little wild….we really enjoyed this tour.

"Excellent Montserrat Tour with Knowledgeable Guide" 5/5 stars

I signed up for the full day official Montserrat tour and I couldn't be any happier! Everything was so well organized and though the bus was large we were lucky to have this wonderful experience as a small group of 8 persons. Our guide Beatrice was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, and an expert on Montserrat and the city. You'd be luck to take the tour with her. She is so passionate about what she does and spared no moment on and off the bus to explain the history, culture, and unique features of the monastery and the area. We still had some free time for a short hike and to listen to the monks sing. Highly recommended!

"We had a fantastic tour of Montserrat with guide Beatriu" 5/5 stars

We took the official tour that leaves Barcelona at 12:00 noon, arrives at Montserrat around 1:00 p.m. but does not return to Barcelona until about 9:00 p.m. at night. It was extremely crowded when we first arrived but as the tour buses started leaving we had the whole place almost to ourselves from about three in the afternoon. We were very surprised about how much there is to see and do, with the incredible museum, the funicular to the top of the mountain, the numerous trails, the basilica, the statue of the virgin, the movie about Montserrat, the crypt, the chorus and the Sacristy, we could have easily spent another day there just hiking all of the trails to the various chapels and shrines. To me one of the highlights was the art museum. We have been to the Louvre and El Prado but this collection is extensive and you are so close to paintings by Monet, Van Gogh, Renior, Dali, Picazzo, and no crowds. That was a complete surprise for us and we just wanted more time to see everything. Beautriu explained everything in detail and answered all of our question with a depth of knowledge that was just astounding. Her love for Montserrat is infectious and now when friends ask us what was the best experience we had in Spain the immediate answer is Montserrat.

My wife and I took this trip on May, 24, 2017. It was an amazing trip by bus to Montserrat. Our guide, Anna Louisa, provided us amazing information and access to the sights here. Her knowledge of the history and operations of this monastery was over the top and help us to understand the site. She was able to take us to places that others couldn't accesss. She had very good control on time and all activities that were planned were accessed.
